The Challenge

The client wanted to launch an Uber-style marketplace for home services with trust and safety built in.

We built customer and provider apps with real-time booking, in-app payments, verified profiles, ratings, and an admin console.

How we approach this kind of build

Two-sided marketplaces have a cold-start problem that no amount of engineering solves — without providers there is no reason for customers to come, and vice versa. The software's job is to make supply as easy as possible to onboard and verify, which means provider signup, document checks, and availability management get as much design attention as the customer app.

Matching is the core algorithm: available providers filtered by service type, location, and rating, ordered by a policy the business can tune rather than one hardcoded by us. Booking is transactional — a provider cannot be double-booked under concurrent requests — and cancellations, no-shows, and reassignment are modelled explicitly because they are common, not edge cases.

Trust and safety is a product surface, not a policy document. Verified identity, held payments released on completion, two-way ratings, in-app communication that keeps phone numbers private, and a dispute path with an admin console behind it. Marketplaces that treat this as an afterthought tend to discover the gap through their first serious incident.
